It truly is simple. Debate over gun control is once again reaching a fever pitch in the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting that took 59 lives (at last count) and injured more than 500. Why is the topic of gun control so heated and contentious? The answer: Democrats, Republicans and the National Rifle Association.
We need to set aside partisanship and think in terms of rationale- common sense. Whether that is possible given today’s cavernous chasms on Capitol Hill remains to be seen. Most observers would say “doubtful.” Politicians need to discuss-HONESTLY- questions concerning Loopholes, Mental Illness, Instant Background Checks, State’s Propriety Rights in crafting their own gun legislation and all other issues surrounding gun laws. Just Do It. Maintaining the right to purchase a firearm is of paramount importance but so too is the protection of the public. Yes, there can be common sense agreement.
