According to a published report in the Mirror, Rebeckah Jones suffers from depression and anxiety as a result of bullying experienced most of her life. Her school insists that she is to unwell to attend. Rebeckha and her family have a different point of view. They respond that their daughter has been victimized for her mental health problems.
Rebeckha’s mother said, “When I found out she couldn’t go, my jaw hit the floor. We’ve brought her everything, her dress, all the accessories. She’s not one of the majority popular people; she gets picked on because of her size. She’s an easy target.”

Her mother says she suffers from depression and anxiety but has a good circle of friends. They know her very well and can help if she suffers a panic attack in public. Recently she had to attend school with her to instill confidence and make her feel comfortable. Rebeckha, according to her mothe,r has self-harmed and at times does not feel safe in school.
The school maintains that they are banning her from the prom not only because of her mental health issues but because of her attendance record, something her mother attributes to her fear of encountering the bullies themselves.
Rebeckha’s mother is now attempting to organize a group of parents in the surrounding communities whose children have been excluded from attending their proms for various reasons.
Family members feel Rebeckha would be safe at the prom. School administrators feel otherwise.
