Imagine that you are a server in a casual restaurant and the tip left for you is $424,000 in the form of a cashier’s check. A waiter at a New York City pizzeria was stiffed on his table’s bill but a female customer inadvertently left behind the cashier’s check worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
A retired social worker, Karen Vinacour, had left the envelope containing the check behind after eating lunch with her daughter. The cashier’s check was a down payment for a condo that she was buying in the neighborhood.
The waiter said that the mother/daughter dining companions left no tip. Zero-Nothing-Nada. At the time of publication it was not reported whether the check owner did finally leave “a little something” for the waiter who restored her faith in humanity. We do not know if the waiter’s faith in humanity is in tact.
